I was born at Haggs Castle on the south side of Glasgow (the place associated with bewitching and magic in the 17th Century) before my family's move to the east-end, sharing our address at Firpark Terrace with one of Glasgow's now most famous artists, Charles Rennie MacIntosh. Like myself, he lived there till a teenager.
I've always loved to draw and paint as well as write stories and poetry but didn't commit myself to the craft of writing until much later in 2006, after two sons and several other careers.
Since then, in 2007 I've self published a Collection of Poetry, ‘Muted Hellion’ which is available in selected Glasgow Libraries and directly from myself. I attended the Creative Writing Project at GCNS in 2008 where I finished my first Novel and completed the 'Steps' New Writers course at the Mitchell Library, meeting and being tutored by some of the best Scottish contemporary writers like Zoe Strachan and Alan Bisset, not forgetting the hilarious Viv Gee, who inspired the comedian in me. I'll complete the MLitt.-Creative Writing at Glasgow University in August 2012.
I hosted and organised Poetry@The Ivory from April '10 to Nov. '11 and was Events Co-Ordinator for the Scottish Writers' Centre for twelve months before being elected Chair.
